Seeds of action
When
2020, March 6-10th

Where
Russia, Arkhangelsk Region

What
An international immersion in the northern village

Who
Activists, thinkers, artists, practitioners, protectors and researchers of ecosystems
The purpose of the gathering is to cultivate a web of cooperation for opening bottlenecks caused by global ecological crisis (climate change, extinction of species, loss of cultivars, crop failure in agriculture and forestry, soil erosion, techno-catastrophes), reduced use of energy. We want to bring together and support cooperation of bright actors that intentionally influence on culture and biosphere in the situation of crisis.
Why
By bringing together creative responders dealing with the most important issues of our time. By addressing to biological and physical levels of reality that exist regardless of interpretations in the world of "post-truth". We aim to synergize our existing efforts so as to resiliently cope with the challenges of our ecosystems.

Invitation
The name of this immersion - Seeds of Action - has both a practical and a symbolic meaningreflecting the their interconnection in our lives. Seeds are something that will grow or are already growing. Seeds are crucial for the reproduction and restoration of ecosystems. In the time of crisis it is especially important to have and to share natural seeds that have not lost their adaptation properties and are able to meet changing conditions. Some of us are engaged in nature-friendly farming practices that are aimed at adapting to climate change and restoring degraded lands. Others work with symbolic seeds of new cultural paradigm and new modes of social life.Together we will be able to establish and to strengthen connections between different levels of our life.

We stand at the forefront of the crisis like firefighters standing in front of a forest fire. It is too late to prevent the catastrophe, but we can try to make sure that there are seeds in the ground that will live after the fire, that there are seeds of the future already growing in this time of change.We invite people from different countries:
• farmers practising regenerative agriculture
• urban and rural communities and ecovillages members;
• ecologists and green activists;
• philosophers and writers;
• prototyping future visioners;
• social entrepreneurs;
• healers and psychologists;
• traditional knowledge holders;
• seed savers;
• cultural workers, art and media persons;

We will meet in a little northern village for 5 days in order to to ask questions and seek answers to complex questions, build bridges, change together, try to achieve synergy and cooperation and create common projects for the future. The immersion's programme will include presentations, discussions, joint design sessions, body practices, practical work, creative and transformational processes.

The working languages of unconference are Russian and English (simultaneous translation will be provided by organisers and participants-volunteers).

Experience from the previous years
This event carries on the tradition of international Immersions started March 2017. The first Immersion "Education for a Resilient Future" gathered around 70 participants from different countries, with ⅓ of people who had never been in Russia before. At March 2018 there was second Immersion "Ecophilosophy. On the edge." You can see some photos from this and other immersions below. Also you may read the article by a participant from Gaia University.
Place
We will live in traditional log cottages in a remote area in the north with simple living conditions and alive traditional setting. We planned the Immersion in this place and these living conditions as we see it as an appropriate framework for critical thinking on the current situation . Additionally, living closely as a community gives new opportunities:

• to learn more about our own limitations, behaviour patterns that prevent us from understanding others and others from understanding us;
• to gain a unique experience of building a community based on trust and sincerity in contrast to the reality constructed on hierarchical and competitive principles.
Fee
Сontributions for food, accommodation and other expenses make 100-150 euro. If it is too difficult for you, let us know and we will see it we can make a discount.. If you have a capacity to support and give more in order to help somebody else to take part, we will be very grateful.
The way
The way to the location takes about 20 hours (one night) by train from Moscow, St. Petersburg or Arkhangelsk and the cost is 20-40 euros (1400-2800 roubles) depending on the class.
How to prepare
The Immersion is a journey, and if you decide to participate, we recommend to be present from the beginning till the end. Please take with you some biological seeds (to share and exchange).
How I can help
If you are ready to help with preparation and cleaning up you may come few days earlier or stay few days after the Immersion (for free).
